Square Dancing Makes a Comeback in Sevierville/Pigeon Forge

Square dancing is making a comeback in the Sevierville/Pigeon Forge area! The community is working hard to reintroduce this traditional dance form to locals and tourists alike. The Sevierville class is only about 12 calls away from graduating from SSD (Social Square Dancing), and they plan to achieve this milestone in April.

This group of dancers is incredibly congenial and has formed strong friendships with one another. They will undoubtedly be an asset to the square dancing community. In fact, 10 new dancers are set to graduate from the Sevierville class soon!

On May 20, the community plans to showcase their talents with a demonstration in downtown Sevierville from 2:45 to 3:30 pm at the Bloomin’ Barbecue Festival. The group will perform a few singing calls as a demo and then invite the audience to try square dancing. This will also be an excellent opportunity to distribute information about new classes beginning in May. The community welcomes anyone who wants to help with dancing or passing out information to give them a call at 865-253-2514 or contact us.

The community has been holding lessons at Penny’s Cafe in downtown Sevierville, but unfortunately, the restaurant is being sold. Therefore, they are actively seeking a new location to dance. If you have any leads, please let us know.

In conclusion, the square dancing community is on the rise in Sevierville/Pigeon Forge, and they want everyone to keep dancing! So if you’re interested in learning or just want to join in on the fun, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the community.

And remember … keep dancing!
